The Blue-Zone Team
Blue-Zone has assembled a team of seasoned executives and world-renowned scientists to sit on its Board of Directors.
Mr. Andrew Szonyi,Ph.D., is Blue-Zone’s Chairman. He is the former Lead Director of Zenon Environmental, a company that was acquired by General Electric in 2006 and he remains on the Board of GE in Europe today. Dr. Szonyi was a member of the Premier’s Council on Economic Renewal, Task Force on Investment in Ontario and has served on many Boards of public and private corporations in Canada and abroad. Dr. Szonyi is the Managing Partner, Co-Founder, Director and minority shareholder of First Nations Equity Inc.
The Hon. James S. Peterson, P.C., served in Parliament for 23 years and, among other positions, was Minister of International Trade, Chair of the Finance Committee and Secretary of State (International Financial Institutions). He is Counsel to Fasken Martineau DuMoulin and Lead Negotiator for Ontario in reducing barriers to trade, investment and labour mobility with Quebec.
Mr. Emanuel Vorona is the Director of SAFIA Group Holdings Ltd. He is a seasoned businessman with a strong international business network, with experience in trade and acquisitions in energy and commodities.
Ms. Dusanka Filipovic, P. Eng., is the co-inventor of the Deltasorb® Technology and Vice Chair and President of the company. She subsequently acquired global commercialization rights for the Deltasorb® Technology from Praxair and launched Blue-Zone Technologies Ltd. Prior to that, while at Union Carbide Canada, she directed the overall development of the Delta™ Project. Ms. Filipovic has experience in the start-up and commercialization of technology-based companies, having served as co-founder & Deputy Chair Halozone Technologies Ltd., a publicly traded company, and E.E.R. Canada, an environmental engineering firm which was acquired by General Electric.
Mr. Vaughn Goettler, MBA, is the Chief Executive Officer of the company. He has extensive experience in start-ups, turnarounds, operations, as well as acquisitions & divestitures of service companies in industrial/medical gases, waste and energy, heating & air conditioning fields. He was the: Founder & CEO of AirTime Canada ULC; CEO of Union Energy Inc.; Vice President of Canadian Waste Systems Inc.; Director, Canadian Operations with Laidlaw Waste Systems Limited; and President of Welders Service Inc., (a Union Carbide/Praxair Company).
