Dusanka Filipovic: President and
CEO
Dusanka Filipovic, P.Eng, acquired
ownership of Blue-Zone in 1996 and joined the company in April 1999, following
her 20+ years at Union Carbide Canada Limited and Praxair Canada Incorporated.
While at Union Carbide as New Business Development Manager for the Catalysts,
Adsorbents and Process Systems (CAPS) Group, she pioneered, championed and
directed the overall development of the Delta project with assistance from a
team of expert scientists and engineers. Ms Filipovic
is a co-inventor of the Delta Technology.
Throughout the course of her
career, Ms Filipovic has held senior marketing and business management positions
and has acquired expertise in technology commercialization and building
technology-based companies, as well as in international licensing and joint
venture partnerships. She served as co-founder, first President and CEO, and
later Deputy Chairman of Halozone Technologies
Limited, a publicly traded company on the Toronto Stock Exchange. Most recently,
she has served as Canadian Branch President for the U.S.-based environmental
engineering firm, Energy and Environmental Research (EER). The immediate results
of her efforts while with EER Canada included a 45% market penetration rate
increase, as well as a 29% growth in revenue, ultimately helping to position the
company for long-term financial stability. Ms Filipovic left EER Canada in April 1999 to pursue her
interests with Blue-Zone.
Ms. Filipovic has
earned an extensive list of awards, including: - Enginering Medal for Research and Development, Professional
Engineers of Ontario (1991) - Environment Award for Business, Financial Post
(1991) - The Prestigious Humanitarian Manning Principal Award for Canadian
Innovation (1993) - Ontario Waste Minimization Award, Recycling Council of
Ontario (1993) - Outstanding Provider of Environmental Services, Mississauga
Board of Trade (1996)
As President and CEO of Blue-Zone, Ms Filipovic is responsible for overall company control, with
emphasis being placed on financing, regulatory, marketing, business development,
environmental, technical/R&D, legal and governmental issues. She will manage
the affairs of the Corporation, including the development and implementation of
the sales and marketing plan, the formulation of strategic business plans, the
hiring and supervising of all employees, as well as the establishment of
personnel policies and employee benefits programs. She will also oversee the
technical aspects of plant design and engineering. Finally, Ms Filipovic will be responsible for exploring and establishing
strategic alliances, licensing relationships and joint venture
partnerships.
Fred Cashin:
Project Manager, Operations and Engineering
Fred Cashin, Registered Respiratory Care Practitioner (RRCP), is
a graduate of the Respiratory Therapy Program from the Toronto Institute of
Medical Technology, now known as The Michener Institute for Applied Health
Sciences. Mr. Cashin joined Blue-Zone in November 2001
following a successful twelve-year career in the field of anesthesia. He was
formerly with St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto, where he held a variety of positions,
including Respiratory Therapist and Clinical Coordinator for Acute Intensive
Care. Most recently, Mr. Cashin directed and managed
the Crisis Resource Management Training Program for physicians, clinical staff
and clinical students, using a complex software system and a
microprocessor-driven robotic mannequin at the Patient Simulation Centre. He was
also instrumental in conducting a clinical trial and research study on
Blue-Zone's Delta™ technology under the supervision of Dr. Bob Byrick, Chairman, Department of Anesthesia, University of Toronto.
Mr. Cashin is responsible for project management, including
budgeting and scheduling, as well as for the facilitating of detail design,
engineering, procurement and fabrication of Blue-Zone's Deltane™ brand anesthetic reclamation and purification
trains. He will be overseeing the demonstration plant assembly, start-up and
commissioning, and will be appointed Plant Manager for this endeavour. Mr. Cashin is also
responsible for securing Blue-Zone's Establishment License, as well as for
ensuring that the Blue-Zone facility adheres to the guidelines for Good
Manufacturing Practices as outlined by the Health Canada Therapeutic Products
Program.
Bruce Craig: Marketing and Sales
Manager
Bruce Craig, former District Sales Manager and National Sales
Trainer of the first and leading supplier of isoflurane in Canada, Ohmeda
Pharmaceutical Products (Division of BOC Canada), joined the Blue-Zone
management team in February 2002. Mr. Craig brings a wealth of experience gained
from over 25 years in the human and veterinary pharmaceutical industry. In 1994,
Mr. Craig was awarded a President’s Award, and was the first Canadian
representative to achieve $3 million in the sales of inhalation anesthetic
agents.
Mr. Craig is a Business Administration graduate from
Centennial College in Toronto and
holds a B.A in Sociology from Trent
University in Peterborough.
In his
current capacity, Mr. Craig is responsible for developing and implementing
Blue-Zone's Domestic Marketing and Sales Plan, starting with, first, positioning
Blue-Zone's products in Ontario and, subsequently, in Quebec and the rest of
Canada. His activities include the marketing of Blue-Zone's Deltasorb™ inhalation anesthetic collection system with
particular emphasis being placed on: securing collection contracts in hospitals;
and sales of environmental service and Deltane™ brand
anesthetics to hospitals and veterinary clinics. Mr. Craig also provides the
necessary technical service, regulatory protocol and manufacturing support, as
needed to establish and grow Blue-Zone's business in Canada.
Richard Bower:
Senior Business Adviser
Richard Bower, former Director General
of Industry, Science and Technology Canada, also President of CaPaRim International Inc., is a seasoned Business Adviser
with both public sector and private enterprise experience. He is heading
Blue-Zone's Ottawa office, and assisting the company with
business development issues, including international strategic alliances,
financing and licensing opportunities. Mr. Bower is also positioning Blue-Zone
to the United
States and Asian Markets.
Marina
Frank: Corporate Controller
Marina Frank, MBA, is an
accounting professional with over 20 years of experience in accounting,
controllership and finance with larger corporations, such as: Kendall, Division
of Colgate; G&K Services, formerly Work Wear Canada; and Watts Industries.
Ms Frank comes highly recommended by Blue-Zone's auditors, Bennett Gold
Chartered Accountants.
